Scripture Lessons and Lyrics Challenge by Patter Cross - #22 - A Hallelujah Christmas

This is the last challenge page for this year of 2014. Next year I hope to continue to take part in Patter's Challenges but also plan on taking part in challenges at His Kingdom Come.  So you may get to see more scripture art from me next year than what I usually do.

Please visit Patter's blog  HERE to read her thoughts surrounding her chosen song and also a link to the song - A Hallelujah Christmas.

I will be away for most of January so I will possibly return from an overseas holiday to catch up on challenges.  My husband and I are going on a Cruise to New Zealand. The cruise finishes in Auckland and instead of flying straight home to Australia, we are having a week with my brother and his wife who live at Rotorua.  My brother is taking a week off work to be our tour guide and he is so excited about us coming. I am looking forward to spending time with him also.  If you read this blog posting of mine, please join me in prayer for my brother and sister-in-law as they are both non-believers in Jesus Christ.  I am praying that Ken and I will be given opportunities by the leading of the Holy Spirit to share our faith with them while we are there in their home.

Here is my digital page for this last challenge:\

For my digital art I have used a kit called Leaving a Legacy which is a kit I designed for the Blog Train I take part in each month.  You can find this kit  HERE

I pray that those who visit my blog will be truly blessed in 2015 as you all seek to know our Lord Jesus more and more each day.

Scripture Lessons and Lyrics Challenge with Patter Cross - #21 - Mary Did You Know

This time Patter has chosen to share a song I am very familiar with - Mary Did You Know.
Please visit Patter's blog HERE to read her teaching based on this song.

Whenever I hear this song it reminds me of years ago when I would each year take part in a Christmas display in our town organised by the combined Churches of our town. It was "Christmas the Full Story".  Starting with the Birth  and finishing with Christ's resurrection.  I helped paint scenery and props and acted in different roles over the different years.   One year I was Mary ( Jesus mother) at the cross and this song played in the background.  It really touched my heart as I could realise how Mary must have felt watching her son die on the cross and not fully understanding why until after He rose to life.

For my digital art I chose to use the scripture where Mary accepts what the Angel told her was to take place.  She accepted but possibly did not really comprehend what role she was playing in God's plan for His  redemption.

Scripture Challenge Lyrics and Lessons hosted by Patter Cross - #20 - He Knows My Name

Patter has introduced me to another song I had not heard before. Please visit her blog HERE

and also read about what you will be doing next year  HERE
I have been taking part each fortnight or week with the Scripture Challenges hosted by Patter since 2008. Hopefully next year I will find time to take part but I have discovered His Kingdom Come ( see the logo to the side of my blog ) and hope to take part in their challenges which may take more of my time as it will be physical art instead of the digital art I have been doing for Patter's challenges this year.

Here is my page for this fortnight:

Scripture Lessons and Lyrics Challenge hosted by Patter Cross #19 - Something in the Water

Please visit Patter's blog HERE to read about the song she has chosen for this fortnight.

I am running late at  creating and sharing for page for this challenge. We had been anxiously awating the birth of my fourth grandchild. Last Saturday - 15th November, Andreas James was born. He arrived on his big sister, Imogen's 8th Birthday.
I am blessed to have four grandchildren now with this being the first grandson. Another little baby for me to rock in my arms and sing "Jesus Loves the Little Children" to.

Here is my page which I quickly put together:

Scripture Lessons in Lyrics Challenge with Patter Cross - #17 - He Knows

I am not up with the latest Christian songs so again Patter has shared a song I had not heard of.
You can read her thought and see the link to the song on her blog HERE

Once I read the words in the song which I have shared on my digital artwork, I knew which scripture I would use.  Our Lord and Saviour is so willing and ready to carry our burdens and yet how often do we keep a hold of them and do not hand them over to Him. We think we can do it on our own, in our own strength.  But, Oh!  how often do we fail when we do this. We struggle and struggle before letting go and giving it to Him. There is no need for us to struggle. He wants to carry our burdens. He loves us so much and does not like seeing us suffering under burdens we do not need to carry.

Scripture Lyric and Lessons Challenge with Patter Cross #16 - His Strength is Perfect

Please visit Patter's blog HERE to read her thoughts on the song she chose for this fortnight.

When I started to create my digital page I decided to make the scripture personal so changed the 'he" to "I" etc.  I need to remind myself that even if I fall my loving Heavenly Father will not let go of me. He holds me right in the palm of His hand.

Scripture Lyrics Lessons Challenge by Patter Cross - #15 - Thrive

Yet again another song I had never heard before. Please visit Patter's blog HERE to read her thoughts and also find the link to the song.

The line in the song I have shared on my digital art - "Fill our hearts and flood our souls with one desire" is a very strong statement in a sense.  As followers of Jesus we should all have ONE DESIRE and that is to live a life that glorifies our Lord. The only way we can do that is to be filled with that living water.

Scripture Lessons and Lyrics Challenge with Patter Cross - #`4 - You Are God Alone

Patter has chosen another song I had never heard of before. Please visit her blog and read her teaching from the song  HERE

I chose to work with the words " You are God alone - UNCHANGEABLE".  So many things in life change - I changed where I live last year - I not long along changed some of the colour in my hair - I changed what I do in my spare time this year with taking up an old hobby of crocheting.
But how wonderful to know that we may change but our God NEVER changes. His love is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.  He loves me the same today  as when I first accepted Jesus as my Saviour back in 1981.
One of the recent change in my life is bringing me so much encouragement and helping me to grow in my relationship with our wonderful God. My husband and I now do a Bible Study with a neighbor across the road - he is a quadriplegic living with his elderly mother so he really enjoys our fellowship.

Here is my digital art for this fortnight:

Scripture Lessons and Lyrics Challenge hosted by Patter Cross - #13 - King of My Heart

Once again Patter has shared a song I had never heard of. Please visit her blog HERE to read her thoughts on this song.
The words from the song that I have shared on my digital art stood out to me. I am so thankful that my Heavenly Father has washed away my brokenness and His arms are always open.

Scripture Song Lyrics Challenge with Patter Cross - #11 - Not for a Moment

Please visit Patter's blog HERE so can read her teaching and also find the link to the song. I had never heard of this song or the singer and I have now added a new CD to my wish list.

It is always so comforting to claim the promise in Hebrews 13:5 that our Sovereign God will never leave me ( you ).

Scripture Lyric Lessons with Patter Cross - #10 - Worn

This challenge hosted by Patter Cross on her blog HERE this time features a song and group I have not heard of. Please visit Patter's blog to find the link to hear the song - Worn by Tneth Avenue North

The words in the song that stood out to me are the ones I have used on my digital page. There are times I feel this way but it is so wonderful to grab hold of the promises of God and know He never leaves us and all we need do is acknowledge Him and ask for His help in all that we do. We have no need to feel "worn" but we do. He loves us and does bless us with those "winter and spring rains" in life's journey.

Scripture Lyric Lessons Challenge with Patter Cross - #9 - Broken Hallelujah

Patter has given us a song I had not heard before but the words from the song that I have shared on my digital artwork is so true for me.  Sometimes I feel I do not spend enough time in prayer but I am reminded that even being aware of God's presence with me as I go about my day is being in pray with Him as I ask him for help in the different tasks of my day.

Scripture Lessons and Lyrics by Patter Cross - #8 - Life My Life Up

I have been having a busy time lately and not getting to my computer so much but I did get a page created for this fortnight with Patter. Please visit her blog HERE. You can read her devotional thoughts and see a link to the song. I had not heard of this one before.
With some plans happening in my life lately the words from the song that I have used on my digital art piece stood out to me. So then I went to the Bible Gateway website to find a scripture that would work well with those words.
The plans are nothing serious... just my husband and I this week booked a cruise to travel from Australia ( where we live) to New Zealand where my brother lives. My brother is excited about us coming to visit and see the home he has made with his wife in New Zealand.  I went on a cruise way way back when I was only 23. My husband has never been on one. It should be an adventure for us both.

Scripture Lessons Lyrics Challenge by Patter Cross - #7 - How Deep the Father's Love

This fortnight Patter has chosen to share a song I have sung often and really enjoy to sing. I urge anyone who visits my blog to please pop over to Patter's blog HERE and read her devotional thoughts and also go to the links she shares to hear the song sang and the writer of the song explain how the song came about. After reading what Patter teaches and listening to the song and singing along to the song, tears welled in my eyes.
As Patter asks... "Are you living as a purchased possession of Christ?".. I realised my answer is no!!! but oh how GREAT our Father's love is that He loves and forgives.
The first verse of the song is all about ME... I am that wretch or was that wretch.. I am surely now, His treasure and I intend to live the life I should do to bring God the honor and glory He deserves.

My page is totally digital and I enjoyed putting together. I used papers from Because He Lives by Kathryn Estry; Photo mask by Indigo Designs; wire hearts from Little Moments by Aprilisa; stitches from Sea Breeze by Lindsay Jane. Fonts - Playball and Aarh

Scripture Lessons and Lyrics Challenge with Patter Cross - #6 - Until the Whole World Hears

Once again a song I had not heard before. Please visit Patter's blog HERE so you can read Patter's teaching, read the words of the song and listen to the song via the link that Patter shares.

The words from the song that I have used on my page ( totally digital - too busy this week to do anything hybrid) stood out to me.  I so want to be a better witness for our Lord. I felt the scripture - Isaiah 52:7 went with these words.
We need to be willing to share the good tidings which is the truth of salvation to really be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Scripture Lyrics and Lessons Challenge with Patter Cross - #5 - Let Them See You

Again Patter has chosen a song I had not heard before by a band called JJ Weeks Band. Please visit Patter's blog  HERE to read her teaching and also find the link to the song if you would like to hear it sung.

When I read through the words of the song the words I have used on my page really stood out to me and straight away the scripture I have used came to my mind. Then the following day God's perfect timing that the Daily devotion my husband and I read each morning related to these thoughts. I will share the ending prayer and quote from the devotion:
Help me, Lord, to use my words not to tear down others or build up my own reputation, but to seek the good of others first, and in so doing to serve You and Your Kingdon.

and the quote which is a proverb from the Bible:

Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles. - Proverbs 21:23

Here is my small page which is displayed in a CD case:

Scripture Lessons and Lyrics Challenge with Patter Cross - #4 - Good Morning

Another song this time that I do not know. Please visit Patter's blog HERE so you can read her devotional thoughts and visit the links to the song.

When I saw the words in the song which I have shared on my little card ( CD case size as that is how I display it), "Wave away my yesterday 'cause I'm leaving it behind me"; the verse from Psalm 103 came to my mind.  Our sins are forgiven and removed from us as far as the east is from the west. We can say goodbye to yesterday and leave it behind as it is gone.
Like the words in another song, all we need to be concerned about is "one day at a time".

Scripture and Lyric Lessons with Patter Cross - #3 - Always

This fortnight Patter has shared a song I had never heard before and the words are good ones.
Please visit Patter's blog HERE so you can read what she has shared and also visit the links to the song.

The line in the song "My God will come through always" stood out to me. Maybe because in life even our loved ones do not always come through for us but how wonderful to know and believe God does come through ALWAYS.   There are so many wonderful scriptures to remind us that He is our refuge and our strength.

For my  little piece of artwork which is mostly digital - I photographed it because scanning it did not give a very good result -  I printed an extra flower to attach to give a more realistic 3D effect and added a real brad to the centre.

SCRIPTURE LESSONS & LYRICS CHALLENGE #2 - UNDO - WITH PATTER CROSS

Please may I encourage anyone visiting this blog if you have not read Patter's devotion for this fortnight's challenge to go to her blog HERE and read it.  It really spoke to me as lately I have been struggling in
feeling I was failing the Lord and not living as I ought to be.  My husband and I have yet to find a Christian fellowship to become involved in with our move to another state. Maybe I am lacking Christian fellowship why I have been feeling down lately but even so I should just trust in our Heavenly Father to do just as I have shared on my piece of art  -  "Turn me around - Pick me up".  These are the words from our given song that really spoke to me and the scripture is one that Patter shared and I felt it one I needed to take claim of - I need to stop living according to my sinful nature. I need to get my eyes back to being fixed on Jesus.

I created a slightly hybrid piece of art with having fun to make my own real washi tape by printing a digital paper over some masking tape.

SCRIPTURE LESSONS AND LYRICS CHALLENGE 2014 - #1 - YOU ARE THE LORD

For the sixth year I am taking part in a challenge hosted by Patter Cross. This year Patter is teaching us through scriptures and lyrics from Christian songs ( sometimes it may be a hymn).
Please visit Patter's blog HERE to read what she has to share to start our year off.

The song the lyrics for this fortnight came from is You are the Lord by Jeremy Camp. If you would like to hear the song and see the words please visit Patter's blog and your will find a link to the song.

This year I hope to combine some digital art with some papercraft for my small pieces of art. These pages each fortnight will be displayed in a CD case.  When I went to start working on my art this time, I had been making YoYo flowers from fabric for some cushion covers I was making and thought - why not add a small YoYo flower to my scripture art. I had chosen to work with red, purple and grey so off to my stash of fabrics and I found the right piece to make a flower.

As I read the words to this song the two lines I have shared on my artwork stood out to me - how wonderful the life that our Lord does give us - from the moment we accept Jesus as our Lord and Saviour our eternal life begins. I was once shared this fact in a youth group many years ago. It is not when we die that our eternal life starts - it is when we become a true believer.
The blessings I am receiving from the change my husband and I made towards the end of last year just shows how the Father does provide for us. We moved from a large city to a small country town to be closer to my daughter and her precious family ( I have 3 adorable little granddaughters ).

Here is my hybrid piece of artwork:
( my photography is not that good - it is not really as crooked as it looks)
